Week 9. Final Day at Storage

I spent quite a bit of time at the storage space inventorying the last few 073 boxes so that the series is now complete. After my computer ran out of juice (a problem where there are no outlets for charging), I focused on moving the boxes around to group each series in distinct locations so that they will be easier to find and access in the future. This included sketching out a floor map.

Here are before and after photos:

Before

Over the last 9 weeks, I inventoried 46 boxes to the folder level. I averaged about 40 minutes per box, with some boxes taking over an hour and others taking 30 minutes. More details about my process, the condition of the materials and the contents in general will be included in my final report.

Anne has 7 distinct series in her archives in addition to an assortment of other boxes from a variety of time periods:

  1. AW: Arts Wire.18 boxes.

  2. 073: 49 boxes. Named for the number that Shurgard gave the boxes when they were first stored and that have been retained. These include a wide variety of sub-series, primarily her work as an independent consultant.

  3. IW: 21 boxes. Independent Work. These are similar to the 073 series. Anne has identified the IW series as the next in line to be inventoried.

  4. 2016: 8 Boxes. Moved into storage in 2016, not necessary files from 2016

  5. Archives: 16-18 Boxes. Early years, Anne Gerber and miscellaneous.

  6. AAF: 11 Boxes. Organized alphabetically. Personal files from Grantmakers in the Arts

  7. 2013: 12 Boxes. Organized alphabetically. Contents currently unknown.
